Simple Thankyou

This card is based on a very simple card that I saw last week.  I think there was a sketch somewhere, but I am not sure where I saw it now!  Anyhow, it was super easy to make - in fact I made two of them in different color schemes!

Short and sweet for today!

Stamps : Inkadinkado
Paper : PTI White, SU! Old Olive and Rich Razzleberry

Snowy Sketch for You to Try

Thinking snow on Labor Day???! Surely it's too early to think about this type of card just yet?

It is 90 degrees here in NC and the cold weather is a long time away, so I thought I'd create a cold, snowy beauty in the form of a card. I long for a blast of really cold wind so I can wear some sweaters (or at least long sleeves!).

My card is based on Jen's SFYTT and the theme was inspired by Amy Sheffers contribution to the same sketch on her blog Pickled Paper Designs. The sketch looks like this :

Hope you've enjoyed your day off!

Butterfly Thinking of You

Good morning all! Hope you had a fantastic weekend?

My card today was a quick and easy card that I made a while ago and forgot to post here on my blog! I used SU! Old Olive and Night of Navy to complement the K&Co Blue Awning papers that I found somewhere in my stash. The butterfly is actually a rub-on and the sentiment is from an Inkadinkado set.

Short and sweet today,

Stamps : Inkadinkado (sentiment)
Paper : K&Co Blue Awning DP, SU! Old Olive, Night of Navy and White
Ink : SU! Night of Navy

Pink Birthday Cake

On Saturday we went to a birthday party for a one year old girl. When I checked my stock of cards all I had were little boy cards, so I used the Taylored Expressions sketch to create this cute little pink one. (Please excuse the dark quality of the photo - I was taking it at the end of the day and could not get the light quite right.)

Here's the sketch I was working from :

Thanks for stopping by!

Tissue Paper Flower (SFYTT)

The flower on my card today is from another tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers. If you've never tried one of their tutorials before I would highly recommend them. Great details and photos for each step.

This card is also my contribution for this week's Sketch for You to Try. Here is the sketch that was posted on Saturday :

I'm still loving my DCWV Sweet Stack patterned paper (which is what I used here). It is so versatile and can lend itself to either whimsical or elegant cards.

Have a great Wednesday

Mojo Monday Madness!

OK.... I give up with the Mojo Monday sketch this week! I have tried numerous times to create a card based on the sketch below and each time I am unhappy with the final result - but I'm going to post two of my creations anyway. I got some great baby paper from Archivers on Monday night and thought it would be perfect for this sketch but I think it ended up looking too busy. Also, I stamped the giraffe on SU! cream cardstock and I don't think that is a good base for coloring with PrismaColors and blending with babyoil... it was messy and not a lot of fun. I'll make sure to note that I should not use SU! cream when using PrismaColors in the future.

The card below was supposed to be for graduation but I decided it was not quite the right color for the occasion (see my post on Wednesday for the final grad cards I created). Again I feel like there is something missing from this design. One cool thing though, is that I did not have any KaiserKraft pearls in the correct green so all I did was use a green copic marker and color in 3 white pearls to make them match.... worked like a charm! I can't claim the credit for this idea though, I think it came from either Cindy Lawrence or Marianne Walker - both Copic coloring queens!

Here is that frustrating sketch that I was trying to work from :

Anyhoo.... I hope you are looking forward to the weekend!

Citrus Get Well (Mojo136)

Good morning all! Hope you are having a wonderful Thursday?
This is my contribution for the Mojo Monday sketch #136. Teresa challenged us to use the round or square sketch, but I combined them both on the same card! The DCWV Citrus Stack was the inspiration for my color choices and I needed some more 'Get well' cards so that dictated my sentiment.

Here is the sketch :

I used a pearlized white scalloped notecard from Archivers for the scalloped circle background. I don't have all the Spellbinders dies (I wish!) so sometimes I have to be a little creative with the shapes I use! I had to play around a little bit to get the color just right for the border on the small scallop circle - I tried various VersaMagic chalk inks but in the end I used a Tombow marker.

Thanks for stopping by!

Feel Better Teapot

I have been sending a lot of 'Get Well' cards recently and I needed to come up with some new feminine designs that did not include Prima Flowers (I'm running out!) This teapot is a digi stamp from KLM designs. This is the first time I've tried using a digital stamp so I wasn't sure how it would turn out. The paper is from Basic Grey's Nook and Pantry collection and reminds me of my Grandma's lace tablecloth, perfect for serving afternoon tea!

Enjoy!

Precious Friends

Hey everyone, it's Friday!

Today's post is a card using some papers that I discovered in my collection last night from K&Company called Blue Awning. I had been looking at these on line and was thinking of purchasing them but to my surprise discovered that I had some in my stash already. (Although, what does that say about my 'stash' - that it is so big that I don't know what I have, or that it is not organized very well??!)

I decided to try an experiment with one of my Quickutz dies in my Epic Six. I cut a cream label using the label die and then just cut off the portion that I needed to make a border to sit underneath the striped border. Then I used one of the Spellbinders label dies to cut the shape for the sentiment. Recently I had to purchase a new cutting mat for my Epic Six and it seems to be thicker than the original one, which affects the way the shapes come out of the machine (not embossed around the edges as they were when using the original cutting mat). To add some extra detail to the edges of the label I used Night of Navy chalk from my Stampin'Up! pastels set.

I hope y'all have a wonderful weekend. (Those of you who know me will laugh at that y'all reference.)

Thanks for hopping over to my blog today!
Sarah

Pink and Chocolate Thoughts of You

This card was based on the papers and colors that I used last week on my Mojo Monday card. I have fallen in love with this butterfly stamp and can't seem to stop using it. The satin ribbon is a really beautiful muted pink but I'm not sure the true color comes through in the photo. I have been experimenting with different settings on my camera to take better shots of my cards - it's a work in progress and I guess if you follow this blog for long enough you should (hopefully!) start to see some improvement as I learn how to use my camera in a more detailed way.

Stamps : Hero Arts (Butterfly), Inkadinkado (Border and sentiment)
Paper : KaiserKraft (patterns), SU! Chocolate Chip and Whisper White
Ink : Memento Chalk ink, Staz-on Black

Accessories : PrismaColor Pencils, Scallop border punches, Circle punch, Scallop circle punch, ribbon from A C Moore.

Razzleberry Be Still

I had so much fun playing with the Stampin'Up! Cottage Wall designer series papers on this card. I love the Rich Razzleberry color and the hints of Perfect Plum in there too. Again, the design was inspired from a card I saw on Amy Sheffer's blog (http://pickledpaperdesigns.blogspot.com) and if you want to see a master at work, that is where you should go next! (Love your cards Amy!)

Stamps : Verve (scripture verse), Inkadinkado (flowers)
Paper : Basic Black, Whisper White, Perfect Plum, SU! Cottage Wall DP paper

Mojo Butterflies

Here is my contribution for the Mojo Monday sketch # 131. I know it's Wednesday, but it took me two days to figure this one out! It's large card - half of an 8.5 x 11 sheet. Edward (my 3 year old) 'helped' me choose the cardstock for this one (you can imagine how that went!) I thought about the design for a while before I attempted it and for the longest time I just could not get the colors right. The inspiration finally came at about 9.30pm last night and I finally finished it at 11pm. Problem is, once my brain has been on an intense creative streak, I have trouble sleeping afterwards.....

Stamps : Hero Arts (Butterfly), Inkadinkado (Round border and sentiment)
Paper : Not quite navy, Close to cocoa, Cream, KaiserKraft and My Minds Eye patterned papers
Ink : Staz-On black, Metallic blue (not sure of the company), Jumbo Java Memento Chalk ink
Accessories : Pearls (KaiserKraft), Scallop border punch, small circle scallop punch, medium circle punch
