I know that these colors are a little out of season but they are some of my favorites! I love muted yellows and oranges with chocolate brown.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This card uses two different Hero Arts stamps, the text for the background (watermarked image with VersaMark) and the Sunflowers on the main image. I had to experiment with the ink on the sunflowers to make sure that the two different colors did not bleed into each other. I used the corners of Tim Holtz distress inks in the end.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This week has been a lot of teacher appreciation! But they deserve it - I'm not sure I could teach a class of 20 elementary students every day. I volunteered for 30 minutes in the lunch room last week and that was quite overwhelming!!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My card today uses a new Hero Arts stamp that I bought with my Christmas money from my sweet husband. I had seen a card online using this Poppy stamp and I loved it so much I had to go and find it! Fortunately my local stamping store has a great Hero Arts section so I was able to find it easily. It is a solid block image which I stamped using blue chalk ink and then colored in with Prismacolor pencils. My red background was created using a Stampin'Up! swirl stamp (from a set I forget the name of!) using Versamark for a watermark effect.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The only other detail I added was a couple of green gems either side of the sentiment - otherwise it is quite simple so your attention is drawn to the poppies.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I promise I'm done with teacher appreciation cards now!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Have a wonderful weekend!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This teacher thank you card is very simple and doesn't have a lot of fussy design elements, but that is simply because I wanted everyone's attention drawn to the quote in the center (which is not a stamp, I printed it out on my printer and then lined it up inside the diecut). This is for Edward's kindergarten teacher - and she truly has been very inspiring and Edward has had a great year just because of her!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This time I did not use my Cricut Lacy Labels cartridge - the main diecut is a Spellbinders die (one of my favorite shapes!) To add a little bit of detail to the sentiment I added some Hero Arts nailheads in bright red. The strip at the bottom is made of patterned paper and a dotted ribbon I got at a Creating Keepsakes Convention a few years ago.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

It's that time of year again.... the end of school! This the first year all three of my boys have been in school and I have been so grateful to have a little bit of freedom during the day! I am so grateful to all 6 teachers (Thomas is in 5th and has 4 teachers for different subjects) and I have made a card for each of them to express my thanks for all their hard work this year. This is the first design I came up with and I created a set of 4 similar cards in slightly different colors :</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
On Wednesday this week I posted a card that I had made for a dear friend going through a very difficult time - this was the alternative. It actually took me quite a while to decide which one to send to her! I like both of them so much and of course, they both feature Verve verses! It also took quite some time before I was happy with my choice of cardstock to match the patterned paper. I love the paper (TCP Studios) and I knew I had the perfect flowers to use as an accent, but the main cardstock color was a challenge. In the end my new cardstock organization system proved just how hardworking it is! I have added all my cardstock to magazine files and put them in color families in separate files with each shade divided by file tabs. I can see it all at a glance and it makes the choice so much easier.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The main sentiment is stamped on a Cricut diecut from the Lacy Labels cartridge. That one cartridge has been the single best investment I have made in cardmaking. I love being able to choose any shape I want and cutting it at any size. I also have Spellbinders diecuts, but I find that I use the Cricut far more often.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Does anyone else have this cartridge? Have you found any other uses for it?</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My husband and I have a friend, Vicky, whose husband was just in hospital following a stroke. It was touch and go for a while and we were not sure he would survive, but the whole family was lifted up in prayer on an hourly (or sometimes minute by minute!) basis. God was so gracious and has granted a remarkable recovery to date. He is still in rehab but is improving every day. We give all the glory to God and can see Him at work even in the very small details of such a devastating event.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I made this card as an encouragement for Vicky and I wanted to create something elegant that had just the right verse on the front. Pink Paislee's Queen Bee paper turned out to be just the pattern I was looking for. To begin with a struggled to find the right color ribbon (the background paper looks grey by itself, but when I put the olive ribbon next to it, I realized that it was not really grey but a deep olive color.) The verse is from Verve - naturally most of my encouragement cards feature a Plain Jane Verve stamp - they are so elegant and the font it just perfect.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

This sweet pink creation was for a good friend of mine that just had her fourth child (and 3rd girl!). The bunny is an old image from Stampin'Up! but I still use it a lot on baby cards - it works perfectly and it is a great image to color in. I used my Prismacolors again and enjoyed choosing the colors based on the chart I've created in my reference binder. It helps to hold the patterned paper I'm using as a background against the chart to choose just the right shade. Now I need some new blending stumps - I've been using the same ones for over two years and they are looking very worn and some of them are in really bad shape. I remember though, that Paula Williamson, from <a href="http://www.paulatracy.com/paper_possibilities/" target="_blank">Paper Possibilities</a>, told me to only buy blending stumps make in Taiwan and not China. I learned that lesson the hard way when I was first experimenting with colored pencils!</div>

Has anyone else been coloring images using Prismacolors recently? If so, send me a link to your blog - I'd love to see your work!</div>

A couple of weeks ago I got some new Hero Arts stamps and I've been enjoying playing with them on different cards. This card uses two sets (Speedy Recovery and Antique Engravings). I love using lots of flowers and butterflies and this card was no exception.</div>

Unfortunately I still have not found the right kind of lighting for my cards in this new house, so please bear with me as I try different windows and different times of day. I would love some designated lighting to photograph my cards but I spend all my money on stamps and supplies.....!! :)</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This cute design was a card I created for my niece in Canada. She is 16 this year (hard to believe!) but I think she still likes pink! I don't have too many birthday specific stamps (must buy more stamps... must buy more stamps.... as if I need an excuse!) but I found a Whipper Snapper set from a couple of years ago that had the right kind of birthday cake image.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I added color to the cake using my Prismacolor pencils. They really are my medium of choice right now - I just can't seem to get Copic coloring right. What I really need is a Copic class in the Alabama area, but I don't think they have ever come this far south - I'd probably have to go to Atlanta.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

I hope you've had a good start to your week?</div>

You may recognize this layout from the card that I posted back on Monday. It is a simple easy-to-create design that can work for any occasion. I have had this patterned paper for a while and I was trying to find the perfect card to try it on. It is perhaps more suited to valentine's day, but I've made it work for a birthday card for my niece. Purple/pink combinations are some of my favorites and I love the cute little flower next to the sentiment for an added bit of bling.</div>

When I created this card at the weekend I was not sure how it would eventually turn out. I had so many different colors of blue cardstock on my desk at some point I was getting frustrated. It took a long time to find just the right combination. I like blue and yellow as a color combination - they seem to look really fresh on a bright white background. My mother-in-law so liked this one she wanted to take it home with her! She didn't take it though because she wanted a different sentiment on the front. I guess I will just have to make another one now.....</div>
<br />
Hope you are having a great week!<br />

At the weekend I finally got to go to the only Stamping Store here in Birmingham, Sir-Stamps-a-Lot. It was great to finally see new stamps sets in real life rather than looking at everything online. I was inspired by a lot of Hero Arts sets and also their layering papers. I had some Christmas money that my sweet husband said I could spend on supplies so I took a long time in the store making up my mind exactly what I wanted to purchase. After more than an hour I had finally made up my mind. I could probably have stayed longer! That night I ended up creating five different cards inspired by my purchases and all the samples that I saw on the Hero Arts website. This is a CASE of a card that I saw and thought that I could create something similar. I had so much fun that I created three more cards the next day. Wow! That's eight cards in under 24 hours. I must have found my Mojo again! Thank goodness......</div>

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This design was inspired by a card that I saw on the Hero Arts Flikr stream. It may possibly have been a card by 'Carole-ish' I'm not sure. I know I really should give credit where it is due - but whoever it was, your card was stunning! I changed the die cut shapes and used different stamps to create the background but the method of using clear embossing powder and distress inks is the same.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">If I find a link to the original card I will be sure to post it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">My card today was created using a Hero Arts set called - 'Sending Holiday Cheer'. I has this set last year and tried multiple times to create 'snow' on the roof of the cottage but I was unsuccessful. I tried glitter, white embossing powder and a pen that was supposed to look like snow when it was heated, but nothing seemed to give the right effect. Last week I decided to try again with Martha Stewart's flocking powder in Swan. This time the result was a little more successful but still not exactly the way I think 'snow' should look! To create even more texture I added Flower Soft in 'Vintage Christmas' to the trees on either side.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Another Christmas card - I know it's only November, but I am starting to produce lots of Christmas designs. Today's card was inspired by a card I believe that I saw on Flikr although I changed the orientation of the card and used my own holly and greeting stamps. (Sorry to whoever I CASEd - I can't remember your name so I can't give you credit but your card was lovely!)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I added some extra detail to the background cardstock using an embossing plate and after I paper pieced the holly I raised it up using foam tape. The pearls in each corner were originally cream but I used a Copic Marker that matched the ribbon to color them (got to love Copics!).</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Today I am posting the first of my Christmas Card designs. I have had this ornament stamp in my collection for quite a few years now and I have always wanted to be more creative in my use of it, but on this card I just went ahead and stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, colored it using Copic Markers and added some gold leafing to the top. I also used a Spica Glitter marker to try and add some sparkle to the stars and along the green edges, but it does not show up too well in the photo.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">After nearly 5 months I have started making cards again. We moved house over the summer and it took a long while before I felt settled enough to be creative. My mojo must have been packed in a box somewhere. But it's back!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">My card today is a direct CASE from a beautiful design I saw on Jen Shults blog : <a href="http://deconstructingjen.com/archives/4982">deconstructingjen</a>. She has been a real inspiration to me over these last few weeks. Her cards are true eye candy and I recommend you go to her <a href="http://deconstructingjen.com/">blog</a> to check out her beautiful creativity.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Here is a close up shot of the inside :</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjc0XkhfxLIDRt5bvDTi4_VU_CehW6YJ_XCv_4nyVRDaBbzwGbDC2Y5uiWiJ6URf5wT6Z21B6MPErhfhc4k8EUkQzhEsB1dVPBNZQW3RkNexICNAI8toMyfJVelPyZBRlUdtYWKId6nXtt2/s1600/IMG_8265-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjc0XkhfxLIDRt5bvDTi4_VU_CehW6YJ_XCv_4nyVRDaBbzwGbDC2Y5uiWiJ6URf5wT6Z21B6MPErhfhc4k8EUkQzhEsB1dVPBNZQW3RkNexICNAI8toMyfJVelPyZBRlUdtYWKId6nXtt2/s400/IMG_8265-1.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<br />
This card is made from multiple layers and is more like a mini album than a card. The original idea for this type of card comes from <a href="http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/">www.splitcoaststampers.com</a> (although it's in the 'tutorial' section somewhere, I don't remember the exact name). I have been enjoying all the Fall colors here in Alabama (yes, we do have Fall here!) and I wanted to make a card that reflected all the beauty I have seen this week.<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by - please don't give up on me - I've got lots of other posts planned for this week.<br />

I am just loving these new patterned papers that I found in Archivers from My Mind's Eye (I think this particular set is called 'Hattie'). Blue and tan is also a favorite combination of mine right now too.<br />
<br />
I am still in the process of building up my supply of thank you cards and this seemed to work perfectly with the sentiment. The little bird is from a Stampin'Up! hostess set I got about a year ago and I don't think I've used it on a card until now. <br />

</div>This sweet little dragon was something I created for my boys to give my husband for an early Father's Day. With moving so close to Father's Day I thought the gift I'd bought might go astray and so we decided to celebrate early. I used a stamp that I bought in Britain 2 years ago. It is from a company called 'Little Pink Gem' and has really cute clear stamps<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I have now fixed the problem with publishing to my blog so hopefully I will be able to post here on a regular basis now. It turned out to the something very simple in the end!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This card was inspired by browing <a href="http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/">Nichole Heady's blog</a>. She is the owner of <a href="http://papertreyink.com/">PaperTrey Ink</a> - it's a wonderful company and her blog is just beautiful. You really should check it out.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I started with one of my favorite lavender colors and then added a complimentary raspberry color. The flower in the center was created using a Heartfelt Creations set (stamped and then hand cut) and the leaves were stamped using the petals from the same flower. Added a little extra detail with the scalloped border punch, some FlowerSoft in the center of the flower and then some KaiserCraft pearls for a finishing touch.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Hope that you are all having a wonderful week,</div><img src="http://signatures.mylivesignature.com/54488/172/1C25AD00774D979D32C802BBA172BBFB.png" style="border: 0px currentColor;" /><br />

<br />
Let's try again shall we! Blogger has been out of action for a few days now - on the one day I finally get back to making cards and using my blog again after 4 or 5 months absence. We are in the process of moving house and it has been so crazy with all the arrangements I have not had any creative mojo at all. When I saw this week's Mojo Monday sketch though, I just had to participate and it was fantastic to get back into my craft closet again.<br />
<br />
Here is this weeks sketch :<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6y2esDj4yZJgXvLvDkGqTF9fCfVXT1xQVWgEH6bOVsm7OayvvalIvFBLh0OpkScluu7w8VIkUfm0ggfcInAawAXf4U95ntRjGQUW9UKH_JmZtnZgg2tLmsM7Kj9v8PoFRYyMt7wBQqV2k/s1600/Mojo190Sketch.gif" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5606246848339696226" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6y2esDj4yZJgXvLvDkGqTF9fCfVXT1xQVWgEH6bOVsm7OayvvalIvFBLh0OpkScluu7w8VIkUfm0ggfcInAawAXf4U95ntRjGQUW9UKH_JmZtnZgg2tLmsM7Kj9v8PoFRYyMt7wBQqV2k/s400/Mojo190Sketch.gif" style="cursor: pointer; height: 400px; width: 291px;" /></a><br />
<br />
Archivers was calling my name again this week and so I went in and got some new patterned papers which also inspired me to begin making cards again. Our move will finally be complete by the end of June and it will all be worth it because my new house has a craft room - I get my own space with tons of storage and countertop space. Can't wait!<br />
<br />
Have a great weekend!<br />
