Snowy Sketch for You to Try

Thinking snow on Labor Day???! Surely it's too early to think about this type of card just yet?

It is 90 degrees here in NC and the cold weather is a long time away, so I thought I'd create a cold, snowy beauty in the form of a card. I long for a blast of really cold wind so I can wear some sweaters (or at least long sleeves!).

My card is based on Jen's SFYTT and the theme was inspired by Amy Sheffers contribution to the same sketch on her blog Pickled Paper Designs. The sketch looks like this :

Hope you've enjoyed your day off!

Stamps : Inkadinkado Christmas round borders set
Paper : PTI White, SU! Red Riding Hood, Bo Bunny Snow DP
Ink : VersaColor Rose Red Pigment Ink, Technique Tuesday chalk ink (blue)

Ribbon Flower

This patterned paper called 'Sophie' from My Mind's Eye has become my new favorite. I love the rich purples and mustards with the elegant scroll designs. You'll probably be seeing a lot of this paper in my cards in the near future!

Today in NC there was a thunderstorm brewing and it was very dark and threatening. I had to wait until the clouds had passed to take my photo! I did try to take some photos in the bathroom (!) but the lighting still was not right.

My card design is based on last Saturday's Sketch for You to Try. Here's a look at the sketch :

Hope you are enjoying Wednesday!

Origins Butterfly

I had to laugh when I was choosing the paper for this card. Andrea Ewen is the Guest Designer this month over at Jen's Sketch for You to Try (SFYTT) and she said that when she was choosing papers for this card she closed her eyes and took out the first paper pack that her hands touched. I decided to do the same thing. I closed my eyes, picked up the first paper that I touched..... and it was Origins by Basic Grey - the exact same one that Andrea picked!!!!! We obviously have great taste in paper!

Here's the sketch I was working from :

Hope you're having a good start to the week!

Tissue Paper Flower (SFYTT)

The flower on my card today is from another tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers. If you've never tried one of their tutorials before I would highly recommend them. Great details and photos for each step.

This card is also my contribution for this week's Sketch for You to Try. Here is the sketch that was posted on Saturday :

I'm still loving my DCWV Sweet Stack patterned paper (which is what I used here). It is so versatile and can lend itself to either whimsical or elegant cards.

Have a great Wednesday

Chalked Flowers

As mentioned in my last post, the lighting in my kitchen window is not the best at the moment because of the weather outside! I hope the sun comes back out soon....
My card is for the SFYTT weekly challenge. Here is the sketch :

The center panel was created using an SU! Sizzix Embossing floral embossing folder. I then colored in the raised parts with a Versa Markers and gently rubbed chalks over the surface. It was great fun to try a different technique! Here is a close up :

Thanks for stopping by!

My Favorite Bookworm

Today I kept my card really simple without too many details or layers. This cute little bookworm is from a set called 'I {heart} books' from My Favorite Things. This whole set works perfectly with TPC Studios 'Homeroom' patterned paper and I used both this set and the paper to create my teacher appreciation cards.

This card also works for Jen's Sketch For You To Try challenge from last Friday. Here is a copy of the sketch :

Thanks for dropping in!

My Family DP Obsession

OK, so I have an obsession with the new Fancy Pants 'My Family' DP! Yesterday's card used this paper and I have now created two more. The left hand picture is for Jen's SFYTT and I am considering whether the right hand one could be used for the April Verve Challenge on Splitcoast.

Here is a close up of the first one :

And now you can see the second one :

Maybe I'll post a card using different papers tomorrow - you never know!

Have a wonderful day!
Sarah

Flutter Butter Sympathy

Good morning everyone!

Today's card is a creation based on Jel de Muro's Sketch for You To Try. I have had a pile of Bo Bunny's Flutter Butter DP in my closet for a long while now and love it so much that I have had a hard time deciding to use it! But I took the plunge and this is what I came up with. To begin with I was not sure if it was too busy with so many patterned layers (be honest in your comments girls!) but after changing the strip across the bottom (originally it was a a striped pattern) I was happier with a Chocolate Chip piece with the pearls.

Here is the sketch that started the design :
